There are two kinds of chats. Standard chats can be accessed by our servers — that's what lets Vaaq answer questions in them and lets us run safety checks. Private chats are end-to-end encrypted — our servers can't read them. Group chats are standard chats.
Yes. Vaaqchat is free and supported by ads that appear only in the Offers feed, occasionally on app open, and inside the Vaaq assistant — never inside your 1:1 or group conversations.
At launch: India, the Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain), Singapore, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Mauritius. More countries follow. Note: in a few countries, local networks restrict internet voice/video calls — messaging works normally there.
Your name, photo and status — and your phone number is visible to people you chat with and to fellow members of groups you join (your number is your identity on Vaaqchat; there are no usernames). Read receipts can be turned off. There is no "last seen" — we never show when you were online.
